Frequently asked questions

How will my order be shipped?

UK orders are sent by first class Royal Mail. An upgrade to a Signed For delivery is available if you need proof of delivery. Please note that Signed For delivery only confirms when an item is delivered, it does not speed up the delivery.

Orders to other destinations are sent either tracked or international standard airmail (not tracked) depending on the item. Please read the description to find out how that particular item is sent. Upgrades to tracked services are available for those items usually sent by standard airmail if required.

Please ensure you allow plenty of time for urgent deliveries as I have no control over postal service delays. Tracked services do not speed up delivery.

Stamping on the back of items

Stamping does not remove metal, it just moves it and generally it moves the metal to the rear of the area that's been stamped. Because of this the back of your jewellery will have a slightly raised area where the stamp imprints. If jewellery is stamped on the back the raised area would show on the front. For this reason I don't usually stamp items on the back.

Want to order more than I have in stock or want to place a custom order?

Please contact me if you need more items than I seem to have in stock. I could be expecting new supplies and can give you an estimated date.

If you'd like something a little different or would like to change something in one of my listings, I am very happy to hear from you about a custom order.

Please make sure you allow plenty of time for a custom order. It may take a little longer to get to you because of the design process or if I have to order in special items.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All my jewellery is sent in lovely packaging as shown in the item's information so it is ready to give. Please check individual items to ensure you know how your jewellery will arrive.

Tracking for International Orders

Gift boxed items (usually pendants/cuff links etc) sent outside the UK are shipped via Royal Mail International Tracked (or Tracked and Signed depending on the country it is going to). Tracking numbers will be given to you.

Those items that are sent outside the UK in organza or plastic bags (charms or add on tags etc) are shipped by International Standard shipping via Royal Mail. An upgrade is available at checkout to Royal Mail's International Tracked service, if applicable. This offers tracking for these items. If you choose to upgrade I will let you know the tracking number once your parcel is on its way.

The tracked service does not speed up delivery so please bear this in mind when ordering.

Crystals, Stones and other additions

I use Swarovski crystals in my pieces that state crystals are included. These and all other stones, charms or other additions used come from established companies or sources. Silver is a soft metal and so, over time, there will be some wear showing where stones, crystals etc have been in contact with the silver. This is part of the natural wear on soft metal and should not be viewed as a fault.

Parcel hasn't arrived

Please check with neighbours, outbuildings, porches etc to see if it has been left anywhere.

Royal Mail do not consider a parcel lost, UK or international, until six weeks has elapsed from shipping confirmation.

Other countries postal services will consider items delivered if that is what is shown on their delivery scanning system and I cannot refund in those circumstances.

Customs Charges & Sales Tax

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Please note that you are responsible for any taxes, customs fees, or other amounts levied by your home country. Please check with your Customs office and/or Postal Service if you are concerned about possible tariffs.

Some countries charge a sales tax or on-line item tax. This is set by the country concerned and is not something Etsy nor I have control over. I cannot refund taxes charged by countries for sales or customs.

It is illegal to mark a customs form as a 'gift' if it is sent directly from a shop/on line. All packages going through customs have to have the full price paid on the package by law and I'm afraid I cannot alter this to lower customs duties.

Care instructions

Jewellery is delicate by its nature and life in general can put it through a lot of stress sometimes (sound familiar?)

General care

- Put jewellery on last after using hair or skin products. These can build up on a piece and cause dullness or even lasting damage.

- Don't shower, bathe or swim in your jewellery. Shower/bath products, salt water and chlorine can cause damage. Besides, who wants to have to retrieve a piece of jewellery from the drain...

- Jewellery may tarnish over time. Use the free 'dinky' polishing cloth I send with every sterling silver piece to keep it clean.

- Any silver or rhodium plated items just need a quick wipe with a soft cloth. Don't use a polishing cloth - the chemicals in it can cause discolouration.

Marking an order as a gift

If you mark an order as a gift it means I will not add the price of the item to the receipt. This allows the person you are buying for to know where it was purchased but not how much you paid for it. Marking as a gift does not mean I supply extra gift wrapping nor that I can mark an item as a gift for customs purposes (see my FAQ above). I do have to include the cost of an item on the envelope for orders going overseas

Hallmarks

UK law requires any silver item made in the UK and weighing 7.78 grams or more must have a hallmark. Most of my items are under 7.78 grams and, therefore, are not hallmarked. However, my sponsor's mark (the first part of a hallmark) is held by the London Assay Office. Where items have been hallmarked, this is stated in the listing.
